چکیده
Aluminum alloys possess a high strength-to-weight ratio and good corrosion resistance making them suitable for various structural parts components used in the aerospace industry. However, principal barrier restricting their use is weldability. This experimental study addresses issues joining of dissimilar aluminum alloys. In this work, friction stir welding (FSW) strength AA2014 AA7075 has been carried out effect parameters studied to obtain defect-free welds. Detailed statistical analysis was performed regression models were developed prediction optimization. Multi-objective optimization by employing desirability function determine optimal condition welds with adequate mechanical properties. Microstructure fracture surface optimum weld also compared lowest highest heat input welded joints.

Friction stir welding of dissimilar alloys – a perspective
Friction stir welding does not involve bulk melting of the components that are joined. This has inspired attempts to exploit it for joining materials which differ in properties, chemical composition or structure, and where fusion can lead to detrimental reactions. The purpose of this special issue of Science and Technology of Welding and Joining was to assess the status of friction stir welding...
متن کاملLiquation Cracking of Dissimilar Aluminum Alloys during Friction Stir Welding
A liquation cracking mechanism of dissimilar Al alloys during the friction stir welding (FSW) is suggested in this study. To identify the mechanism, the precipitates were analyzed and Al-Mg-Cu phase diagrams were calculated. Electron backscattering diffraction (EBSD) analysis and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) were also conducted. In the same manner as constitutional liquation, at high hea...
متن کاملCoupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) Modeling of Material Flow in Dissimilar Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Alloys
In this work, the finite element simulation of dissimilar friction stir welding process is investigated. The welded materials are AA 6061-T6 and AA 7075-T6 aluminum alloys. For this purpose, a 3D coupled thermo-mechanical finite element model is developed according to the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method. The CEL method has the advantages of both Lagrangian and Eulerian approaches, whic...

متن کاملFriction Stir Welding Process Optimization: Experimental Methods
Introduction The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process is an innovative technique to join metals in the plasticity field, thus not reaching the melting temperature and consequently the liquid state as it happen in traditional welding processes. This feature of the FSW proved an enhancement of the fatigue behaviour and strength of the joints, leading some companies to adopt the process for the man...
